Are they going to tear down the LA Convention Center?

October 12th, 2011

I heard they’re is tearing down the LA convention center to build a stadium a few months ago. Are they going to tear it down completely by next year? I’m just worried because my cousin didn’t know about Anime Expo ( She just became an anime fan and this is her first convention ) and she wants to go next year. But when we heard that they’re the convention center down ( Anime Expo is the nearest Convention since we live in LA ), we got a bit worried about where the convention would be if they tore the LA Convention Center down.

Don’t sweat it. They are only tearing down the West (original) side of the convention center. The new side will stay intact.

What is the difference between a format and a convention?

September 29th, 2011

I have a set of questions in my IT book for school and it’s asking all about Format and Convention but my IT text book actually doesn’t have anything to with the question asked.

I am using Excel and answering questions about a spread sheet and it asked me this.

A format is a set of rules that is made in advance and followed by adherents; a convention is something that happens to be in common usage without actually being prescribed.

So I suppose the difference is whether or not an authority has called for its use.

In Excel, a ‘format’ specifically refers to the set of attributes like bordering and alignment, or to the code that specifies how a number value is presented (as an integer, a short date, a percentage with significant digits, a text string, etc.)

Are Indegenous Mexicans, First Nations, and Native Americans the sole and real owners of North America?

September 27th, 2011

According to the National Commission for the Development of the Indigenous Peoples (CDI) there are 9,854,301 indigenous people reported in Mexico in 2000, which constitute 9.54% of the population in the country. The CDI identifies 62 indigenous language groups in Mexico although certain languages have multiple dialects each of which is unique and may be mutually unintelligible.[19] The majority of the indigenous population is concentrated in the central and southern states. According to the CDI, the states with the greatest percentage of indigenous population are:[20]
Yucatán, 59%
Oaxaca, 48%
Quintana Roo, 39%
Chiapas, 28%

There are three distinctive groups of North America indigenous peoples recognized in the Canadian Constitution Act, 1982, sections 25 and 35.[20] Under the Employment Equity Act, Aboriginal people are a designated group along with women, visible minorities, and persons with disabilities.[151] They are not a visible minority under the Employment Equity Act and in the view of Statistics Canada.[152]
The 2006 Canadian Census enumerated 1,172,790 Aboriginal people in Canada, 3.8% of the country’s total population.[1] This total comprises 698,025 people of First Nations descent, 389,785 Métis, and 50,485 Inuit. National representative bodies of Aboriginal people in Canada include the Assembly of First Nations, the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, the Métis National Council, the Native Women’s Association of Canada, the National Association of Native Friendship Centres and the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples.[153]
Indigenous people assert that their sovereign rights are valid, and point to the Royal Proclamation of 1763, which is mentioned in the Canadian Constitution Act, 1982, Section 25, the British North America Acts and the 1969 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties (to which Canada is a signatory) in support of this claim.[154][155]

Are you getting scam emails about any type of work from Craigs list?

September 11th, 2011

I put an add on craig’s list about a cleaning service that we have and a person kept sending me an email about he wanted us to clean his new apartment for $300.00 and he was wanting to send 300 UPS, before we even cleaned his apartment. He also said he was in England for a convention. Then he was wanting us to something else for him for a price. Start watching your emails this guy wants to send fraudulent money orders.

100% scam, you are correct.

Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his ‘potential sucker’ list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

You could post up the email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information.

Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don’t bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn’t worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

Making a scammer’s scam googlable on every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find is a great way to slow that scammer down when a suspicious potential victim goes looking for information, finds your post containing the name the scammer is using, his email address, phone number and the emails themselves and then that potential victim does not become a scam victim because you took the time "get the word out".

Wasting a scammer’s time legally and safely is called "scambaiting". If you google that word, you will find sites where you can read scambaits, post up the emails and email addresses of scammers, post up a fake website, read up on how to alert a hosting company that they are hosting a fake website, ask questions and learn all about the hobby of scambaiting.

If you google "fake check cashing job", "fraud Western Union scam", "money mule moneygram scam" or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.

How could the Convention create two opposing interest groups?

September 8th, 2011

This is one of my questions on a worksheet I got about the Constitutional Convention.
There is another question I would like to ask: how should power be distributed between the state and federal governments?

The Convention really created two sets of dividing lines. The first was the large states against the small states. You can read and figure out how that ended. the second was between those wanting a strong central government and those wanting more power to reside in the states. The nationalists won that one with a large degree of power still residing in the state governments.

What is the real reason Abdelbaset Al-Megrhi was released from a Scottish Prison?

September 5th, 2011

Was it because he would be dead in 3 months (2years ago) or was it because all the Scottish prisons are running at about 50% over capacity, over the european convention on human rights recommendations.
The Scottish Prison Service has closed 5 Prisons and are about to close another 2

Megrhi would have a complete suite to himself to avoid reprisals from other prisoners, so letting him go make a complete suite free to overfill with many more prisoners, so is it all about numbers and to hell with justice

He was released for compassionate grounds.

What is the explanation for miracles taking place in church services, if it’s "not from God"?

August 26th, 2011

There was a Christian youth convention this passed weekend, and I went along with the youth group at my church to help the pastor out and watch some of the girls. Last night, there was an amazing service all dedicated to the power of healing and how God can bring miracles if we pray for one another. There were atleast 30, maybe even more, youth healed of severe asthma that were able to run all around the college without stopping to take a breath (the convention was held at a college). There were also many people healed of Scoliosis and other vertebrae issues, along with anything in general such as knee problems and severe arthritis, and many spinal issues were healed.. these people had all been suffering for many years, if not their whole life. If you don’t believe that God did it, then what is the explanation for all of these youth being healed all together in one night after being prayed for? I’d like to know some of your opinions. Thanks in advance

Be careful, seeing is not always believing. I am always suspicious of these so called miracles where groups of people are instantly healed. Usually it is some kind of scam meant to mislead the afflicted because they are vulnerable and are willing to try anything. Sometimes the so called afflicted are part of the scam. The goal is almost always monetary gain. I say again, use sound judgment and do not be deceived.

Does the EU human rights convention recognize compulsory military service as an offense against human rights?

August 24th, 2011

If not why? i know some EU countries have it such as Germany, but this is a serious issue, because you are forced to do something against your will and it doesn’t matter if you are innocent. please help i need to know, it’s urgent

Compulsory military service is never a human rights issue any more than compulsory jury duty or compulsory payment of taxes. It is the price of citizenship. It can be avoided by renouncing citizenship and leaving the country.
