Michael Badnarik Speaks Sunday Morning at the 2010 Libertarian National Convention (excerpt)
June 7th, 2010 | by admin |
When I got to the Convention Floor Sunday morning I only had three minutes each on my batteries and only got a snippet or two.
This is probably a good thing. If you were there you know what I mean.

I’m proud of my 2004 vote for Michael Badnarik, all over again.
His words were harsh, but true.
I left the Libertarian Party in 2007 and joined the Republican Party to vote for Ron Paul. I was planning to switch back, but we convinced Rand Paul to be our senator (and that’s going very well, thank you very much). Now, I think we’ll just stick around and make the Republican Party follow its party platform, kick out the neocon death cult, and make it what the Libertarian Party aspired to be.

@d0861 “Why have I not heard of this man before?”
Because he accepted the Libertarian nomination for President in 2004. Accepting that position is almost as effective as joining the Witness Protection Program…

@VoteLiberty I honor and thank you for your good work for liberty. But in your comment I think you focus on the least important point in his speech. Let’s try to focus on principles and forgive each other minor points of disagreement.

I call myself ‘ …
I call myself ‘conservative’ not Republican or Libertarian. Both those groups can’t get out of their own way and as long as we have to be in a certain group to be agreed with, we’ve lost our true identity as individuals

I agree. I wore a (slave) suit & tie for 2 decades. No more – I own my own business (a production business – we make stuff). Now, when I see someone in a suit & tie, I think “there goes another NWO slave.”

I say that with a “To each – his own” attitude.
The purpose of ‘The Libertarian Party’ is NOT to belittle other Political Parties with satire by showing how tolerant of each other we are by dressing like StarChild of San Franciso – of which I am about to upload a video of him speaking on the Convention Floor.
I’ll explain more there.

I happen to agree with President Badnarik. A ‘Dress Code’ for those that hold ‘state’ (meaning geographically defined areas within the United States designated as a means of congregation at Assembly, not as in ‘Police State’) level positions (State Chairmen, Officers, and Delegates) and National Assemblymen (Officeholders, Committee Members, and National Committee Members).

I’m a 3-time candidate for US House. I earned 41% of the vote the third time with almost no money or volunteers. I am qualified to speak or disagree with Badnarik where applicable.
My point of contention is his tirade for a dress code. Sorry, but “codes” are rules that authentic libertarians like me don’t like. I agree that dressing the part when one is a candidate is important. But alienating a less-dressed but equally intelligent crowd is foolish too if we want growth.

My thoughts exactly. The anarchists especially need to get a grip and realize we need to make the first step first, we can’t make all five at the same time.

I love Badnarik. He’s just the man; very perceptive and blatantly honest. It’s amazing and inspiring, and I’m glad you know him.
