Regardless of what was happening with the natural Ice Age cycle of the last few millenia, or orbital cycles, subduction, ocean and atmospheric chemistry, changes in the geometry of the continents etc..

…the gases our industrial waste processes have dumped into the atmosphere are having an extra effect which is causing things to warm up faster than they would have otherwise.
