    I have my fingers …
I have my fingers up to them so much I’m getting cramp! I’m sorta treating the trad as both a break from that and a nod towards the real spirit of Éire which historically fought tooth and nail against the kind of scumbags who’ll tax a people of their earnings, sell them into foreign rule and rule from abroad.

    Today the struggle carries on,
I wonder will I live so long,
To see the gates being opened up,
To a people & their freedom.
Once upon a time there was,
    Irish ways and Irish laws…

    I half wonder why …
I half wonder why they are bothering with elections now. The country’s already been sold back into slavery with that joke of a “referendum”.

Still, 60 years of something like freedom wasn’t a bad run. It’s more than Englahd, Scotland or Wales got in that time.

I’m just gonna get stuck into re-learning the trad I’ve not played in the past 15 years and try to ignore the shower who’ve taken the Crown’s old job.

    Éireann (agus Bhreatain) go Brách!

Two fine islands ruled by tossers.

Many thanks for your wishes wadjela. Alas, you seem to get much sunnier news Down Under than we do in the Old Country. All I hear is of rising inflation and unemployment, and we’ll have to endure the election sometime in the summer.

Yes of course, though to my ear, Sandy’s phrasing as Lor-dArnold – perhaps the reason for the misunderstanding.
Best wishes for getting through the recession and the election, from the Antipodes.

    A Lord Donald would …
A Lord Donald would never refer to ‘Fair England’.
    ‘Bonnie Scotland’ more likely.
You’re obviously not British or you’d appreciate the difference.

There’s lots of different versions, and the lord’s name varies. In this one, it’s quite clearly Donald.

It is ‘Lord Arnold’, though some people seem to hear ‘Lord Donald’!
It’s an English song – not a Scottish one.

The loss of Sandy Denny is still felt deeply throughout the country by those who appreciate this finest of revivalist traditional bands. RIP.
