Should democrats rethink their convention plans?

Specifically should Democrats stick to their plan for an interfaith service that someone deemed necessary to open the Convention? And in case you haven’t heard about that yet, not only will there be an interfaith service, but it will be led by a Pentecostal minister, Leah Daughtry.

The Pentecostal brand of Christianity is described as "a fast-growing branch of evangelical Christianity that emphasizes the supernatural, including healing, prophesy and speaking in tongues…"

Oh my gosh! LOL

Modern Americans should be embarrassed by such a set of beliefs rather than trying to elevate them in status by featuring such nonsense to begin a political meeting.

Do you think the Democratic convention planning committee should change its agenda?

actually, i think that surprisingly enough, many of our votes are going to come from evangelicals this time around… sure they disagree with us on abortion, but the younger ones are starting to come around on the environment.

i was raised a Pentecostal, and while i have washed the filth from my brain since, it’s a hard thing for many to shake. some people just need God.

read this and you tell me what you think we should do….

Subject: a word from a MARINE who just saw barack obama in the middle east JUST SHARING AN EMAIL REC’ this morning, July 23, 2008… This comment from a US Marine, does not go along with what we saw on national liberal TV… S.I received this from someone who was in Afghanistan when Obama blew in. I’ve
    taken out all the forwards

Hi all FYI–for what freedom is worth.

Tiffany and Jeff Porter are our friends who live in Virginia.

I don’t know each of your personal political convictions, and apologize if
anyone finds this offensive. I thought it was important enough to share.
This is Jeff’s first hand view of Senator Obama.

    Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along
that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his
    visit to
‘The War Zone’. I wanted to share with you what happened.
He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area
    to
meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.

As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and
    didn’t
0Asay a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he
finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top
    tent
that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights)
    so he
could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the
opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.

So really he was just here to make a showing for the American’s back home
that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to
    make
an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are
providing the freedom that they are providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas
Cowboy Cheer leaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the
President of the United States. I just don’t understand how anyone would
    want him to
be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around
those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know
what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see&nbs p; in the news is
    all fake.

While I disagree with the Pentecostal faith on many points, the idea that the Democrates are going to recognize God in a more open way is a sign that the Republicans are losing their stranglehold on American thought.

I don’t know much about the Pentecostal denomination but I don’t think that you should be ridiculing any particular denomination. In this country we have a wide variety of religious beliefs and, as you point out, the Pentecostal faith is a fast-growing branch of Christianity.

Lot more people beleive in a fairy tale God and some guy who never existed, and they vote. So I have no problem tolerating a Pentecostal whacko (provided he doesn’t do that tongue thing) if it means votes

When I woke up this morning I thought this Country had freedom of religion. Has something happened while I slept?
