The Hotel Figueroa is the closest and is rather inexpensive, but safe and clean. Some of the others mentioned are a little more expensive and will have free vans. RTD has not existed for many many years. The public transportation system is MTA. You can take MTA's buses or light rail to the Convention Center (or the hotel van).

The Marriot is right on Figueroa and thats were alot of tourist stay.

I would try the Marriott on Figueroa St…..be careful a lot of these bullshit websites…say "downtown" hotels but really aren’t…

Check out The Standard downtown. It attracts a young, fun crowd. We don’t have a geat public transportation system, but it can you about to the tourist areas. The subway will bring you to Hollywood and Highland (shopping), Universal (movies/amusement park), Wilshire (museums), etc.
There is a van system in effect to get you to the airport.
