    I was going to say avoid cheap places … but I have to agree with the first answer, Road Lodge is part of the City Lodge group.
    I have not been to that specific one but I have stayed in them all around SA and the constantly have a high standard of cleanliness, the furniture is not from the 1950s and they have secure parking.

    Both the Road and City Lodge is close to the convention centre, and the road lodge has a McDonalds next to it.

    Just do not walk with valuables/laptop from either place to ICC. Criminals KNOWS that there are non-Durbanites and keep their eyes open for opportunities.
