I’m staying at the W downtown. Some of the reviews of the hotel say it’s not a safe neighborhood. Is this true? I’ve heard San Diego is really safe.

Also, is it a pretty feasible walk to the convention center? I won’t have a car. I’ll probably be walking back at night some days as well. Thanks!

As you can see, bus service will take you almost 3 hours. A shuttle will take about 30minutes.
Airport shuttles typically don’t have "schedules" in California. You can pre-arrange your arrival with the shuttle company and you will leave for your destination right away. You might have a small wait if someone else is arriving around the same time with the same destination.

Are they going to tear it down completely by next year? I’m just worried because my cousin didn’t know about Anime Expo ( She just became an anime fan and this is her first convention ) and she wants to go next year. But when we heard that they’re the convention center down ( Anime Expo is the nearest Convention since we live in LA ), we got a bit worried about where the convention would be if they tore the LA Convention Center down.

Don’t sweat it. They are only tearing down the West (original) side of the convention center. The new side will stay intact.

You can use this website to estimate taxi fare http://www.taxifarefinder.com/main.php?city=LV and it says that the distance from Ny NY Hotel to the Las Vegas Convention Center is 4.1 miles and will take 7 minutes. The total cost would be $17.26 including 15% tip.

An alternative would be to take the monorail. From New York New York, walk across the street to MGM Grand and follow the signs inside to the monorail station. Buy tickets at the kiosk ($5 one way or $12 for a one-day pass to get you there and back) and hop on the monorail. It stops at Bally’s, Flamingo, Harrah’s and then the Las Vegas Convention Center and it will take you a total of maybe 5 minutes to get there, it’s really fast. http://lvmonorail.com/

I want to get a real taste of what it would be like. Now to get there, is it easier to take light rail, bus or taxi. For example, Comic-Con is a huge convention held in San Diego every July of the year. Does anyone have opinions or suggestions on saving time and energy? It would be good to get some feedback. The distance between the airport and the convention center, is 10mins with traffic. There are plenty of hotels in the area, but book up quickly. Many hotels will offer shuttle service.

There is a lot to do in the Convention Center/Gaslamp area. If you want to see other areas San Diego does have a good rail system and other good public transportation.
